Albert and Christine
have been curious about faces, masks and self-portraits since 1959. Forty years later they began this photographic dialogue exploring metacyber public nudity, the mask as a self portrait, power of modesty, looking, being seen, and the erotic gaze. Taking advantage of the internet as a medium for collaboration and participation by people all over the world, they invite you to join them in this photographic dialogue.
We are a serious venture that doesn't take itself too seriously. We have invited friends and strangers, people just like you, to draw self portraits of themselves on a paper bag. One side of the bag illustrates the image they have of themselves clothed, and the other side shows how they see themselves naked. We then photograph them both clothed and naked with the mask over their face. If they desire, we also photograph their face without the mask, which is displayed in conjunction with the other photos but not in a way that relates the face to the masked images. Millions have viewed these pages in the last few years! We've been amazed by the feedback we've received. Particularly from people who have been liberated by seeing themselves in other's photos and the thoughts from writers and philosophers. |
